One of the nice benefits about the transition to AppleScript is all the AppleScript alternatives that are out there. In particular, Microsoft has chosen AppleScript to replace VBA, and is expanding the AppleScript support in the Office suite. As it is used extensively for macros and plugins, the loss of VBA means that Mac users will have to look elsewhere for their scripting needs. One of the big losses, especially for enterprise or cross-platform users, is Visual Basic for Applications (VBA). As you're probably well aware by now, the highly-anticipated Office 2008 is coming with a lot of new features, but it's also shedding a few features along the way.
